Given Apple’s prominence and leadership in global manufacturing, if the company were to radically change its ways, it could overhaul how business is done. “Every company wants to be Apple,” said Sasha Lezhnev at the Enough Project, a group focused on corporate accountability. “If they committed to building a conflict-free iPhone, it would transform technology.”
But ultimately, say former Apple executives, there are few real outside pressures for change. Apple is one of the most admired brands. In a national survey conducted by The New York Times in November, 56 percent of respondents said they couldn’t think of anything negative about Apple. Fourteen percent said the worst thing about the company was that its products were too expensive. Just 2 percent mentioned overseas labor practices.
Very nice! Though I’m not typically a fan of leather bands, I might make an exception under the implausible hypothetical circumstance of one of these beauties falling into my possession.
Meeting my little brother Sergio after he was born.
Saw AWOLNATION last night on a whim. Billy Joel was right when he said, “it’s still rock and roll to me”.
I tried to take some video of yesterday’s Silent Disco but it didn’t come out well. Turns out flooding the room with a smoke machine isn’t conducive to amateur videography. For your viewing pleasure here’s a video of a bunch of Maltese dancing to music you can’t hear. I definitely recommend Silent Discos and will be keeping my open for future ones.
Guess which half is my good face.
So by now it seems obvious that the whole, “this has a small chance of clearing up in ten days,” was a bit of a long shot. I’ve heard from different sources about cases of Bell’s Palsy lasting anywhere for 3 months to a year. Hopefully the latest round of medications causes the seventh cranial nerve (I’ve been spending some time on Wikipedia) to calm down and get back to work. Oh well, worse things have happened to better people.
My First Steps Into A Larger World
So due to some snafu with a data center migration my old blog on Wordpress got nuked. Assuming that Rackspace is able to get the content back I’ll probably be able to save some of the better posts and repost them to this brand spanking new blog. Will this one last longer than the others? Who knows. At least I won’t have to pretend to be a web master. That’s right, no more server side software updates for this guy.
